Instructions for translators

Hey, thanks for helping us translate traced it!

If you're adding a new translation

  • You can choose how to translate common terms (e.g. "add", "update", "delete"). Then please stick to them. Feel free to use the glossary to document the terms.

  • You can also choose whether to address the user in formal or informal language, depending on what is common for apps in your language. Again, please stick to your choice.

  • Finally, you can choose whether to use imperative (e.g. "Computer, create a file for me.") or infinitive (e.g. "I want to create a file.") for buttons and other user interface elements, depending on what is natural in your language. Again, please be consistent.

If you're contributing to an existing translation

  • Try to match the style of the existing strings when it comes to common terms, formal or informal language etc.

    App store details

Google Play requires that both the short and full description is translated. Otherwise the app cannot be published. So please translate both.

    CDATA strings

Please be careful with them. Don't translate tags (e.g. <p> or &#8594).

    Questions

If you have any questions or problems, feel free to comment on the relevant translation string or create a GitHub issue.

I made the title English-only for the time being, so we can merge the translation. But I'm ready to revert the change if we agree on it.

Thanks so much for all the work on the Arabic translation @naminio!

I can see that this title string contains both an English and Arabic title. Is it a common practice? In Arabic, do apps often have their title written like that in the app stores? I'm asking because we in general don't translate the app title and just use the English version in other translations (German, French, Polish etc). So an English-only title would be my preference. But I'm open to the combination of English and Arabic, if that's what Arabic users are used to.
